Occupational health and safety (OH&S) is an important aspect of the operation of every food service facility - regardless of size.

1) Adequate supply of personal protective devices and equipments: The organization is providing adequate supply of personal protective devices like glouses, face mask, googles, PPE kit etc for the employees while handling with hazardous patients. It will protect them from exposure th hazardous microorganism and porotect them from easily spreading infections. If the work place is a food service facility, there also all these devices and equipments are provided.
Facilities for adequate hand hygiene, sanitation, waste disposal etc: Since the health care workers need to work with the patients carrying variety of microorganisms, adequate facilities are mandatory for proper hand hygiene, sanitation and waste disposal etc. Every organization will have a seperate hand hygiene area along with separete toilet facilities for male and female staffs. Adequate disposal of waste with colour coded collection system also availble in the work place.
2) A manager has so many responsibilities regarding providing a safe working environment for his employees.He need to make sure that the workplace is free from all serious health hazards.He can use appropriate number of colour coded posters, labels, and sign board in the work place to warn his employees against the hazards. A early training programme or an induction programme can be carried out in the work place for all the workers before beginning the activities, so that the workers will be well thorough about what they can do and dont. If it is as food service facility, importance of hygienic hand wash before intiating the cooking process can be explained to them well. Importance of cut shorting the nails, covering the hair, wearing clean aprons to be made mandatory in the working place. Make sure that all the equipments and tools are in proper working condition. Provide appropriate medical examinations and preventive measures like vaccinations and medications before the beginning of work. If it is a health care agency make sure that, all the staffs are vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine, Influenza vaccine, H1NI vaccine etc.
