With online instruction being implemented during COVID-19 outbreak, what approach(es) would you adopt to evaluate the performance of students if you were the professor of this HR class?
Please identify your approach(es) clearly and state your reasons why. (Hint: Comparative approach, Attribute approach, Behavioral approach, Results approach, and Quality approach).
1. Results approach- by giving them online assignments because it is the best way to measure performance of the students. In this situation professor give assignment with deadline and evaluate it after receiving from students and give online feedback to them. Professor should always available for queries of students related to the course and assignment.
2. Comparative approach- it can be used after result approach, compare all the students’ assignments and rank them on the basis of highest to lowest performer. It is important because it motivates students to do well in assignments.
3. Attribute approach- it can also be used to evaluate student’s performance online. This approach helps in evaluating performance on the basis of specific parameters such as problem solving skills of students, teamwork, communication with other students and professor, creativity in assignments and when professor online ask answers to the questions.
4. Behavioral approach- how students behave when professor is taking online classes, how regularly they attend classes, how students respond to the assignments and their deadlines and how they behave with their fellow students at the time of online sessions. These parameters are used in behavioral approach and it is used to measure the students’ performance during online sessions. It is important to know students behavior towards online classes, they find it helpful or not.
