Monitor vital signs

The infection usually begins with high temperature, and also have to monitor respiratory rate and other common symptoms like shortness of breath.

Monitor O2 saturation

Monitor patient O2 saturation because respiratory compromise results in hypoxia .

Maintain respiratory isolation

Instruct the patient to cover mouth when coughing and sneezing ,use mask and advice those who contact with the patient , keep tissues at the patient bedside and dispose secretions properly. place respiratory stickers on charts and lines.

Encourage strict hand hygiene

Teach the patient and relatives to wash hands after coughing to prevent the transition.

Manage hyperthermia

Provide treatment for the elevated temperature to maintain normal and reduce metabolic needs.

Educate the patient and relatives

Provide information on disease transmission , diagnostic testing , disease process , complications and protection from the virus.
