Explain why testing is considered a sampling process
Testing is consided as a sampling process due to the folllowing reason:
Sampling is adopted when it is not possible to enumerate the entire population. For example, suppose we want to find out the average of height of entire college of 1000 students. Since measuring the height of all 1000 students is very tedious, we choose a sample of 100 students and do the analysis and we genalise it for the whole college.
Exactly same technique is adoipted in testing also. For example, suippose we are interested in studying the characristics of a rockety in motion in space. It is impossible to simulate the complete situation: like velocity, acceleration, atmospheric pressure etc. Also the full scale of the actual motor is vey costly. So, in testing, we adopt a subscale level rocket motor and study the same under various possible simulated conditions like velocity, accelaration etc. and later on the results are generalised to actual conditions through mathematrical equations.
In this way, testing is considered as a sampling process.
