Discuss the annexation of Texas and what were the conflicts that arise. How did it lead to the Mexican American war.
Texas was annexed by the United States in 1845 and turned into
the 28th state. Until 1836, Texas had been a part of Mexico, yet in
that year a group of settlers from the United States who lived in
Mexican Texas proclaimed freedom. They considered their new nation
the Republic of Texas, which was a free nation for a long
time.
Legislative issues in the United States broke over the issue of
whether Texas ought to be conceded as a slave or free state. At
long last, Texas was admitted to the United States a slave
state.
Pioneers went into strife with the Mexican government since they
were planters who brought slaves. Mexico had nullified slavery
previously and declined this practice. Texas later became
autonomous in no time and joined the USA in 1845.
Mexico had never acknowledged Texas' freedom or the Rio Grande
limit. By requesting Taylor into contested domain, Polk incited a
Mexican assault and got Congress to announce war on Mexico.
The annexation of Texas added to the happening to the
Mexican-American War (1846-1848). The contention began, to a
limited extent, over a difference about which stream was Mexico's
actual northern border: the Nueces or the Rio Grande.
At last, it was a battle for land where Mexico was battling to keep
what they thought was their property and the U.S. wanted to hold
the contested land of Texas and acquire a greater amount of
Mexico's northern lands.
