Solutions

Expert Solution

The following steps of Delphi method are-:

step 1-  first select a group facilitator

The facilitator selected should be someone who has the knowledge of doing research work and collecting or mining data.

Step 2-  selecting experts

This responsibility of selecting or choosing experts is on the facilitator as selected in the first step. These experts should have experience regarding the topic which is to be examined.

Step 3-  understanding the problem or topic

now comes the step where all the experts are selected and now they have to understand what the problem or topic is on which they have to research and collect data.

Step 4 - first round of questioning

this is done by way of a questionnaire in which one has to know what the others think about the topic or problem in general.

Step 5 - second round of questioning

this again is done by the way of a questionnaire just like in the step above. now in this round the questioning done is more advanced on the topic than the generalised questioning done in the first round. the views of all the experts are takes and then all that is material information is collected.

Step 6 -  Third round of questioning

this again is done by questionnaire just like other rounds and this is the round where a result has to be concluded for the problem or topic based on all the experts views.

Step 7 - Taking actions

this is the final step where you take actions based on the results concluded in the step above.

The advantages and disadvantages of Delphi method are:

ADVANTAGES

1. views of all are respected and decisions are made based on consensus. this makes it that everyone has an equal opinion and no one person can dominate.

2. feedback's given on the views of the experts allows the group to analyse the opinions given.

DISADVANTAGES

1. this method is based on concluding the results on the views and opinions wieghing equally of the experts selected. this may mean that all have equal opinions regarding the topic or problem but it does not mean that the results reached are always accurate and correct.

2. there also is an issue of not enough methodology in this and also this is a very complex method.
