Q. When examining the seismic wave signals in earthquakes, which wave(s) do you anticipate will cause the most damage? why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:

Surface waves are the waves which cause most damages. Surface waves move only along the surface. They arrive before the main body waves, i.e. P and S-waves. Among the two surface waves, Love waves cause most damages because of their side-to-side wriggling motion, they happen to be disastrous to human structures.
