Describe the parts of the mesentery.
Mesentery is a continuous set of tissues located in the abdomen and also surrounds to the intestine to the wall of the abdomen. Though it is a single organ it has several parts. It is made of double fold of peritoneum layer. It is also called as meso.
The parts of the mesentery:
1. Small intestine mesentery: This part is connected to small intestine that specifically connects jejunum and ileum regions. These are the last two parts of small intestine before it connects to large intestine.
2. Right mesocolon: this part runs flat along posterior abdominal wall.
3. Transverse mesocolon: this part is board of the mesentery that connects transverse colon to posterior abdominal wall. Transverse colon is the largest region of large intestine.
4. Left mesocolon: this part is also similar to Right mesocolon that runs flat along posterior abdominal wall.
5. Mesosigmoid: This part connects sigmoid colon to pelvic wall. This region is present just before rectum.
6. Mesorectum: This part is connected to the rectum.
