A metal has a toughness of 748 MPa. Elastic deformation terminates at a strain of 0.010, and the material fractures at a total strain of 0.55. The modulus of resilience is 2.50MPa. Plastic deformation can be described by the equation sigma = K(epsilon)^n, where n is 0.18, and assume for this metal the equation is validto the point of fracture. A stress-strain diagram is not required but may help you in determining the answer. The student is expected to know the relationship between yield stress and modulus of resilience.
1) What is K?
2) What is the yield stress?
