In 2015, there were about 46.3 million immigrants residing in the United States. Almost 3.5% of the total population are illegal immigrants, 2014. Almost 8 million of these are part of the workforce. Immigration has both positive and negative effect on the immigrating economy. While US is one of the developed and the first world country with its exports widely spread around the corners of the world, the immigrants which tend to have positive effect on the demand in the economy which tends to boost the production and growth in the economy is not really true for USA. Instead, the immigration tends to hurt the workers in the country thus reducing there opportunities at work in both skilled and unskilled sector. The major fraction of the immigrants is unskilled and thus eats into the job-share of the Americans in their own country. They are willing to work at a lower rate. Besides, the immigrants have a negative impact on the social setup in the country and the crimes rates tends to increase with the increase in the immigrants.
