1. The importance of sales function for a hospitality organization is that the the organization becomes more popular and is publicised due to the presence of sales function. The sales function ensures that the hospitality organization is able ti reach out to its target market segment and people are made aware of the services being offered so that they avail those services and the organization generates revenue and profit due to it. Yes, in my opinion sales procedures are different for the hospitality business because hospitality business is service oriented and no product is to be sold. Hence sales of services happens when best quality service and experience is offered to the customers. Hence sales procedure in case of hospitality business includes making the customers aware of the sevices being offered and quality of those services.
2. A successful sales person profile for the hospitality industry includes ability to convince customers to try and avail the services, please them with the quality of those services offered, identify the customer preferences and articulate his speech in a manner which is beneficial and helpful for a particular customer, design packages in accordance with customer demands, able to garner customer feedback and improve services as per customer feedback etc.
