“I want sales representatives who can stand on their own. Once they have been through training and show how to apply their knowledge, it shouldn’t be necessary for me to constantly tell them how they are doing. The stars always shine; it’s the other reps who need my attention.” Comment on this statement. Do you agree or disagree?
I do not agree with the statement that once the training is completed the sales representatives should be able to work on their own. The employees of any organization are exposed to a number of varied situations and due to limited experience and expertise, these employees might face difficulty to resolve or tackle the given situation. In this situation, they need someone who can guide them, suggest them the probable solution and facilitate them the course of action.
The effective leader or manager is one who is always there to help his or her followers and thus it is important for the leader or manager to be ready to help their colleagues and junior staff. Although the manager might have many other activities and tasks to perform but guiding and directing the team is also an integral part of his or her profile. Therefore I have this opinion that the employees or sales representatives should feel free to contact the managers whenever they need his or her guidance.
