Assume you are a woman working at Floridian Resorts and you have observed that you are paid $20,000 less per year than two men in your area who are doing the exact same job and all of you have the same identical degree. You actually have 5 more years work experience than the two men in your area. You have mentioned this to your male boss, but he seemed reluctant to address your concerns. After 3 months, he calls you to inform you that you are receiving a 15% raise, which is very nice ... however, you will still be earning about $5,000 less than the two men on the team. It's well known that most organizations in the area, including Floridian Resorts, are experiencing dramatic budget cuts. Although you are appreciative of the raise, you are still discouraged that you are still not paid equally. What recourse do you have?
Below are the points that i would like put forward to the boss
1) I would like to show the achievement on the key deliverables and would tell that I have been top performer for the whole year.
2) Your achievements have been outstanding and you have been overachieving on every key competancy and so you deserve a promotion as you have the required experience and have demonstrated your capability to handle complex tasks with ease and you can manage a team very effectively.
3) Give examples of the tasks where you have led the team and got the work done not just efficiently but also effectively.
4) Also ask for a variable component in the remueration package that will be performance oriented and hence you will be getting paid more based on your performance.
5) Even after all this, if manager and management doesn't meet your needs, then accept the offer and then kindly start looking for better opportunities as per industry standards you will get a minimum of 30% hike and thus you can be satisfied with your compensation.
P.S --Kindly give thumbs up --This will motivate me to provide more and more quality answers!
