a. Assess the Vital signs
The Nurse should First Assess the vitals signs it is Of utmost importance to stabilise the Airway,Breathing and Circulation.
As In the Cases of Alcohol Withdarawal there is - CNS Excitation within 24-28 hrs of withdrawal and Causes-
These are called Minor Withdrawal Symptoms.
After a period of this Phase of Minor Withdrawal Symptoms patient develops Alcoholic Hallucinosis -
If still this Hallucinations are not controlled patients Develops Withdrawal Seizure ( Rum Fits).
So, to prevent all these Complications of Alcohol Withdarawal the Nurse Should Assess and Stabilise the Vitals .
If other Complications of Alcohol Withdrawal is Developed then it's should be treated by-
- Benzodiazepine : lorazepam, diazepam etc.
- Beta-blockers: propanolol, metaprolol
-Anti-convulsants : phenytoin, valproate etc.
