Do you think that people from Canada and the US are greatly different or generally the same? What are the differences? How would you use the sociological perspectives to measure the differences? What are some implications for you as an international student/immigrant/global citizen? While comparing the two cultures in the North America, have you gained any insight regarding how to perceive other cultures that might seem similar at the first sight?

They share many similarities and a few differences, Several cultural aspects , tradition, family values , relationships are similar in both countries. The major difference is the mindset of people to accommodate different cultures.Canadians are welcoming to all culture and believe their culture to be a mosaic of several ones. Americans on the other hand are interested in all residents of citizens of the country to follow only one culture and not a mosaic. Global perspective is one which is of great importance in sociology. Both countries can be viewed as high income generating countries with people enjoying high SES as compared to others. Social problems faced by the two countries such as poverty , gender equality is comparatively lower as compared to others. An international student gets an opportunity to understand several cultures and new language This will help broaden the mindset with respect to the way one views a culture or tradition from outside. Percieving another culture with similarities at the first sight is a very hard one. It is only with time and with increasing social connection will this be possible to achieve.
