Routing is a process of deciding the sequences of tasks or activities that should execute from one machine to another. The objective of the routing process is to optimize the activities in proper order so that the manufacturing of finished goods from the engines is fast with lower costs. In the routing process, there should be a list of operations to complete within a particular time. The process needs resources to make the operation, and those resources can be any equipments or machines to measure. The functions are allocated with the amount of time, and once the tasks are performed and the process is complete. Thus, it is assigned to the next level of function. The routing of all the tasks or activities needed to be in a proper sequence to have the manufacturing process complete.

The S/4HANA production Planning and Scheduling helps organizations to decide when, what, how, and where to buy the considered devices and production facilities. It is the modern production planning component of SAP, which is merged in SAP S/4HANA.

Though in the latest version of SAP ECC, material requirements planning and capacity planning separates. There are chances that it leads to problems with crucial products to obtain a coordinated plan. Still, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) should achieve under the hypothesis of infinite planning or unlimited capacity. This process develops appropriate modifications to the MRP and seizes capacity resources into consideration and finally establishes a plan about MRP.
