Define iPS cell and describe what these cells are/do/how they function
Describe how I might make an iPS cell that is useful for treating a skeletal muscle tear to speed up the repair process
1. The iPS cells stands for Induced Pluripotent Stem.
define of iPS cell- These are the type of pluripotent stem cells which can be generated through or directly from the adult cells. They are derived from the skin and blood.
Function of iPS cells:
a. These cells are useful for the creation of cell lines which are genetically tailored in a patient.
b.They are reprogrammed to the Embryonic stem cell. The iPS cells introduce the genes that are important for maintaining essential properties of the embryonic stem cells.
c. These cells are also used in the research laboratory as an experimental model to study the physiology of a disease, to understand the disease and to develop useful drugs.
d. These cells function in deliver cell replacement therapy for support of the regenerative medicine.
2. Production of iPS cell that is useful for treating a skeletal muscle tear to speed up the repair process:
a. First you need to derive the mutant cells from the patient.
b. Do the Reprogramming of the derived cells, which will give the mutant iPS cells.
c. Genetic correction in the cells, due to which you'll get the corrected genes iPS cells.
d. Then use the iPS cells or inject them at the affected skeletal tear to speed up the repair process.
