Describe how you could use hypothesis testing to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or a life situation. Include a description of the decision, what would be the null and alternative hypotheses, and how data could ideally be collected to test the hypotheses. 2. Describe how you could use confidence intervals to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or life situation. Include a description of the decision, how the interval would impact the decision, and how data could ideally be collected to determine the interval. 3. Describe how you could use regression analysis to help make a decision in your current job, a past job, or a life situation. Include a description of the decision, what would be the independent and dependent variables, and how data could ideally be collected to calculate the regression equation. 4. Describe a data set that you have encountered or could envision that would be applicable to your current job, a past job, or a life situation. Identify two (2) options for graphically representing those data to present to decision-makers, such a pie charts, time series, Pareto charts, histograms, etc. Assess the pros and cons of each graphical option. Answer to question# 1

Hypothesis testing can be employed in medical field as follows:

One can analyze the proportion of patients related to different forms of illness and then precautionary steps can be taken by the authorities to prevent such illness and ensure better health of people in society. It would also help to let the hospitals acquaint themselves with all the required facilities based on the proportion of different forms of illnesses prevalent. Likewise, optimum utilization of the resources can also be ensured.

The first step is to categorize the prevalent forms of illness in a few categories, say there are 5 prominent categories, under which most of them fall. The hypothesis can be set as : null hypothesis: proportion of people in each category is same, and alternate hypothesis can be : atleast one of the category has different proportion of patients as compared to rest of them. The data can be collected for a period of say 2 months and proportions can be formed. The one way ANOVA test can be used to compared the means values for each of the categories. Further tukey test can be used to find the category with highest or lowest proportions. Tukey test can be applied only if the Null hypothesis is rejected in ANOVA test.
