Costs Options Menu: Forum What prevents larger competitors (e.g., American, Delta, United) from imitating Southwest’s approach? What prevents new entrants from successfully imitating Southwest’s approach

Expert Solution

The large competitors were unable to imitate the Southwest Airline's approach because the business model of the Southwest emphasizes the customer experience, efficient operations and affordable or low-cost pricing. Whereas, the other major competitor only emphasize on earning high revenues at the cost of customer service and customer experience.

The new entrants are unable to imitate the approach of Southwest airlines because Southwest is a forward-thinking company, and the associates, employees are motivated to work. Southwest also has logistics solutions that eyes towards providing better service to the customers. Furthermore, the Southwest has been able to withhold its brand attraction and this has facilitated hiring the right employees. This is somewhat cannot be imitated by the new entrants.
