Discuss American Exceptionalism. What makes the United States different from the rest of the world? What are the prevailing ideas of American freedom in the 21st Century?
The first is that fundamentally, the history of the United States is distinct from that of other countries. In this view, American exceptionalism stems from its emergence from the American Revolution, thus becoming what the political scientist Seymour Martin Lipset called "the first new nation" and developing a unique American ideology, "Americanism," based on liberty, equality before the law, individual responsibility, republicanism, representative democracy and laissez-faire economics. This philosophy is also dubbed "American exceptionalism"
The Americans are more insular and parochial than other people who are educated and established. Part of that is because the US is a continent-sized country with plenty going on within its borders; partly because of geographical isolation; partly because people work harder and have less time to engage in news; never because they're not wise. They are just as smart as others, and maybe more innovative. We are compassionate, humane, kind and generous, not at all like what they are portrayed in the international press
