Compare and contrast the WiFi IEEE 802.11ax standard and latest Bluetooth standards. Your comparison should be based on technical specification and performance (e.g., data rate, modulation, range, no of channels and MIMO antenna, security features and other parameters; you should list as many as you can). Do you view WiFi and Bluetooth as competing or complimentary technologies? Justify your answer
Basic Comparison between Bluetooth and Wifi:
Wi-Fi is similar to Bluetooth both uses radio waves for data transfer with high speed in the short distances with wireless connections.
Both Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11 wifi systems are evolving in more stronger technologies like ultra wideband (UWM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)
Both the latest protocols of wifi and bluetooth which are IEEE802.11 ax and Bluetooth 5.0 protocols allows their own kind of protection from noise-- Wi-Fi uses different modulation and coding as well as multiplexing techniques for signal ranging from 1 to 54 Mb/s, in the opposite while Bluetooth 5.0 uses a fixed signal rate of 1 Mb/s and many other coding rates.
Authentication can be provided by Bluetooth devices with the help of a secret, can be called as link key, between two communicating devices. wheras WIFI offers two ways that are open access or the shared key.
Both the latest standards of Wifi and Bluetooth have its advantages and disadvantages when compared Few of them are as below:
WiFi IEEE 802.11ax standard:
IEEE 802.11ax is also called as Wi-Fi 6.
It's a new series IEEE 802.11 standard and design to overcome the shortfalls over 802.11ac standard.
The areas of improvement includes spectral effeciency as well as user access.
Mutual interference between access points in the highly dense areas is resolved over in IEEE 802.11ax standard.
Providing faster data rates along with overcoming the shortfalls of privious standard.
The previous standards like IEEE 802.11ac providing 7GBPS and IEEE 802.11ax is now providing 10 GBPS for wave 2 devices.
OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access), a technology which is used by IEEE 802.11ax AKA Wi-Fi 6 prviously used with 5G telecommunication devices or systems.
This usgae of OFDMA just increases the actual strength or capacity of system via segmenting channels into smaller.
IEEE 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6 can be called as a enhancement for Wi-Fi technology.
Latest Bluetoth standard:
The latest Bluetooth standard now is wireless Bluetooth 5.0
Bluetooth is commonly used for communicating between the devices like smartphones and we can say some IOT devices.
The primary benefits of Latest standard of BLuetooth which is 5.0 in terms of its improved speed and lets say range of communication.
Talking about the transfer speed as compared with Bluetooth 4.2 increased upto 2 mbps which is exactly doubled than Bluetooth 4.2. and the communication distance is also improved up to 230-240 meters.
Improving the broadcasting capacity of data is also possible with Bluetooth 5.0.
Advertising can be done deterministicly in 5.0 as compared with 4.0 which was dealing in pseudorandom manner.
WiFi and Bluetooth are definately competing or complimentary technologies:
It all dpends on a need of a product in the areas like:
Range :Obviously the range of Wifi is higher as compared with bluetooth as it was mean to replace it with ethernet network
Bandwidth: In this sense for example suppose we want to transfer high quality videos over the audios i that case wifi will work better and faster. As the latest standard of wifi was designed to deliver data with multi Giga bytes speed.
Security: Both Wifi and bluetooth standards follow their own security mechanisms in order to establish secure connections
Afordability: WiFi devices are costly as compared to the bluetooth ones which are mostly cheap in comparison.
I hope this helps suggest edits if needed.
