A. Can a molecule of (CH3)3N form a hydrogen bond with another molecule of (CH3)3N? Explain your answer using a lewis dot structure
B. What is the major force between methyl alcohol (CH3OH) and water (H2O)? Using Lewis dot structures, illustrate the interaction
Solution:- (A) Hydrogen bond forms only when H is bonded to N, O or F. In (CH3)3N, three CH3 are bonded. No H is directly bonded to N. Hence no hydrogen bond would form between two molecule of (CH3)3N.
(B) Both CH3OH and H2O are polar covalent molecules and in both of these hydrogen atom is bonded to H so hydrogen bonding is the major force between these two molecules.
