Obesity is the major issue in the U.S. The WHO reported that the financial crisis, fast food, and body mass index are interrelated which contribute to obesity in the United States. The fast-food culture is increased rapidly. About one-third of the general population is obese. Food industry tries to control the American eats. The cost of obesity increased to $190 billion per year.
Americans have to take their own responsibility for health. The parents are the risk factor for childhood obesity. Only 40% of the Americans are taking calorie counting diet. Some of the traditional Americans are taking cheap calorie to withhold the economy.
Restaurants should be reshaped to provide low-calorie diet and reduce the portions of the meal, and at a cheaper rate. Make awareness on the consumer so that the food behavior of consumers should be changed. Schools take part in healthy food practices in the children which prevent the future burden on health-related disease and healthcare costs both for the individual and the country.
The deregulation of the free market increases the food chain. The obesity continues to grow unless the government has taken steps on the free market. Policies should be revised on agriculture, social welfare, health, education, food, and nutrition. Non-Hispanic white women are more likely losing the weight. The U.S food industry is on the ethical dilemma as the Americans have the rights to have the food which they like. So the government has to focus on food producers and manufacturers to market a high-quality food.
