P.P. is a 24-year-old man who presents to the physician’s office with pain in his right ear.
Subjective Data
Patient states that he woke up in the middle of the night, with ear
pain, 2 nights ago. He took ibuprofen, and he went back to sleep.
Last night he woke up in pain, and he was really uncomfortable. He
felt the physician should see him.
Objective Data
TM appears inflamed—it is red and may be bulging and immobile
T = 100.3
Last ibuprofen 3 hours ago
Questions
1. There should be hearing assessment test included for this patient to find out hearing capacity and to know about hearing loss and for this test are Weber's and Rinne test.
2.pain coming from somewhere else ( reffered pain) ? Does stress cause earpain? Can air-conditioning cause ear problems?
3.risk factors are age group, poor air quality, seasonal facors, a weakened immune system, a family history of susceptibility to ear infections, malformation of Eustachean tube, mucosal problems of ears,nose or throat such as a sinusitis.
4.otitis media is the infection of middle ear or ear drum and otitis externa is the infection of external ear or ear canal.
5.tympenic perforation
6.Nursing diagnosis are:(1) Acute pain related to inflammation of middle ear. (2) Disturbed sensory perception related to obstruction, infection of the middle ear. (3) Anxiety related to uncomfortable and worry about health status.
7.Interventions: Give analgesic as prescribed, provide comfortable position and give tepid sponging to reduce temperature.
