(Answer) Prenatal development is a causative relationship. In other words, there is a direct relationship between cause and effect. Here, the mother will consume healthy food (cause) which, will result in an optimal prenatal development (effect).
This is a very delicate stage that would generally determine the future health of the child. The mother can take certain measures to ensure that the child would have an optimal development and not succumb to dangerous consequences.
Firstly, the mother would have to avoid drinking alcohol, smoking or doing any kind of recreational drugs. These things could severely damage the womb and the child. Furthermore, if the mother is on any kind of prescription medication, she should consult the doctor about whether or not it would be harmful to the child. The mother should not self-medicate at times of sickness and go to a physician instead.
Secondly, the mother should maintain a healthy diet of fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, legumes and beans, clean drinking water, eggs and milk. A healthy diet can go a long way in the development and health of the foetus. The mother should avoid foods with too many preservatives, MSG and artificial enhancers, colas etc. These are not good for the health of the mother or the child.
