Why are some criminals thought of as celebrities and what happens when a celebrity becomes a criminal?
It can be said about committing a crime that it can either make a criminal famous or infamous. It has been a product of the postmodernism where criminals too can become famous. Media has played a very important role in this case. It has been seen that the present culture has mingled the famousness of a crime or a celebrity. The fame or infamy has now become a product of popularization through the media. The impact of public consciousness is the result which makes people famous or infamous. The fame of the media which a criminal and his act of crime receive is enough to make him much popular among the people. Though he becomes popular on the grounds of crime and notoriety, still he becomes famous. Media often frames a point and decision to which the people believe and makes their remarks about the other. When media creates a wave of victimhood and innocence over about a criminal, the people also start to feel pity for him. A common person who has been accused of committing a crime becomes famous by provoking pity for himself through media. The celebrities who are famous on the grounds of their talent and hard work also become liable to the public if they are involved in any of the criminal or wrong deeds. It is because of their famousness which at times save them from falling in the ditch of becoming a criminal. But at other times, the famous people are much on the verge of becoming a wrong example to the public. The public also has the power to make someone popular at one time because of his hard labor and at other times when the famous person is seen accused of any wrong deeds, the public has the strength of shattering his future.
