How does your cultural background affect how you handle conflict? How might the Christian Worldview as a “cultural background” influence the way someone might handle conflict?
Conflict handling style is an important tool through which one
approaches to resolve a conflict.
Culture and its values play an important role in along with
emotional intelligence in deciding which style will be choosen .
This is actually based on cultural psychology model of intelligence
by Miller.
Values of collectivism is found to be positively related to
integrating style while individualism prefers the dominating style
of conflict handling.
Cultural values such as uncertainty avoidance and long-term
orientation prefers compromising and obliging, conflict handling
styles.
As per recent researches, culture effects emotional intelligence
that in turn help in decidng the specific conflict managing
style.
christian world view is an ideology of understanding the world, the
god and relation between world and god.It is a combination of all
things that christianity believes to be true. It include truth of
bible, believe in christ, and view that Christian have a
responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other
people and Bible is accurate in all of its teachings.
Christianity promotes collectivism in a sense so it must promote
integrating style of conflict handling.
moreover , it also focus on long term consequences of an act so it
will prefer obligatory and compromising style of managing
conflict.
