Argumentative essay : Construct your argumentation based on each statement below:
People of all genders, races, ethnicity, religions and sexual orientation have become: leaders, professional athletes, celebrities, wealthy and famous. In the 50 years since the end of the civil rights movement has there been significant change in achieving full civil rights and equality in america? How are things better today and why are things worse today? Provide detailed examples explaining why and why not. (For argumentation you may use how freedom amendments were undermined by Jim crow and segregation)
Racism is a major problem even after fifty years of civil rights movement. For several centuries thousands of black people have been victim of the racism. They would be deprived of common things and human rights. Many people have been killed ruthlessly and the white people always wanted the continuation of slavery of the black African Americans. Even after such a long period, we find that racism still exists in the society. White Americans still continue prejudice in respect of color and ethnicity. The immigrants are still neglected by the government.
In some respects it appears that racism is no more there when Obama was elected as the President of the United States. He is a black person and the Americans elected him as president. The Obama administration took many steps to b ring equality between white and black Americans. There was a law that the white police officers can shoot the African Americans if there is a threat of life to the white police officer. The law would be misused randomly and many innocent black people were shot dead by the white police officers.
In many offices and companies the black candidates are still avoided as the prejudices against the black people still exist. Such prejudice is hereditary. It is not easy to eliminate such prejudice. Conflicts also appear here and there between the black and white. Few days ago an African American was murdered by a white police officer in day light. The victim was George Floyd and the white police officer Derek Chauvin murdered the man by kneeling down on his neck. It is an example of the brutality of the racism and even in such advancement of civilization this killing is really horrible and can never be supported from ethical point of view.
