We will like to assume that antitrust laws would remain relevant legislation well into the future, even though they were written a century ago, as they protect and sustain balanced competition by preventing a large company from acquiring an undue size advantage. Such rules became the legal foundation for Microsoft's alleged dissolution by the Justice Department.

The FTC governs and ensures that there is competition between companies. The FTC has the authority to compel businesses to alter or suspend unethical or unlawful activities to the extent that it may close down a company. The FTC also protects customers by setting and upholding the quality and warnings on product labels. This controls ads, ensuring that people can trust advertisements fairly.
