How long does it take light to reach us from the Sun, 1.50 ×108km away IN MINUTES?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Given Δ*x=1.50 x 10 8 km

We know the relation from question Δ*x = v*t -->(1)

For getting “t” value we have to t

From Equation (1) we can write “t” as

t = Δ x / v

we know the speed of light is v = c = 3*108 m/s,

and we are given that the earth is 1.5*108 km

we know 1 km=103 m

                           t=1.5*1011 m from the sun

                           t = 1.5*10 11 m / (3*108 m/s) = 500 s

we have to divide this by 60 s/min, we have

t = (500 s) / (60 s/min)

t= 8.33 min
