f white supremacy is still embedded in contemporary institutions, how can we work towards eliminating the racial hierarchy in our society?
White people wanted to hold on to their superiority, so they created the term race and made the White race superior based on color. They were also afraid of the unknown in a new country, so they didn’t give much option to people of other races, instead kept them as slaves by shattering their self-confidence and self-esteem. They made people suffer both physically and psychologically. Today, it’s institutional racism which has crippled the country where people of color are ignored or systematically avoided from basic facilities.
One of the most important things to do to overcome this issue is to become constantly aware that people are living in a digital world where oppression in any form is a serious crime and unethical. Secondly, understanding that people are different and no one is superior to the other because provided the opportunity anyone would succeed. Thirdly, people should learn about other countries and culture thus overcoming their biased, stereotyped and discriminative mind-sets to embrace others as human beings. Finally, each passing generation sees some change and it would take some time for everyone to change but government should ensure that equality and equal opportunities are always maintained.
