A motorcycle accelerates uniformly from rest and reaches a linear speed of 22.8 m/s in a time of 8.64 s. The radius of each tire is 0.266 m. What is the magnitude of the angular acceleration of each tire?
Initial speed u = 0
Speed after 8.64 s is v = 22.8 m/s
Time t = 8.64 s
Accleration a = (v-u) / t
=(22.8-0) / 8.64
= 2.6388 m/s 2
Radius r = 0.266 m
the magnitude of the angular acceleration of each tire = a / r
= 2.6388/0.266 = 9.92 rad/s 2
