On 13th April 2020, an article was published on the internet under the title "After the pandemic: How will Covid-19 transform global health and development?"
Please, read the article and answer the following question:
Do you think there can be any positive consequences to public health after the current pandemic crisis? Please, justify your answer and provide examples, if possible.
This global pandemic has changed a lot of things which
nations believed:-
The pandemic has made many countries which were totally dependent
on the other countries for the essential products like PPE kits
which the maximum countries import from china but as of now maximum
countries are trying to produce the essential products in there
country only this has lead to many positive happenings as this has
lead to countries being independent for there needs and this allows
new opportunities for the medical infrastructure to improve because
from the past many years the countries were more focused towards
the defense infrastructure but none of them tried to build the
medical infrastructure which has now lead the countries to think
how to quickly ramp up their infrastructure as well as there
capabilities of how to deal with a situation like this. After this
pandemic is over each and every country will try to improve the
medical facilities in the country and will also try to increase the
research on these type of pandemic like situations and how to
collaborate with the global powers to deal with such warlike
situations.
The focus on global collaborations in order to get financial and
research-based collaboration will be motivated.
The role of Health organizations will also be monitored as to how
to deal with such situations and how a simple travel ban can stop
such a pandemic to reach globally.
In other words, countries will now focus more on medicines rather
than missiles for such time they develop the medical infrastructure
to the extent that fulfills the countries demand.
Let's Take an example of India:-
India before pandemic was totally dependent on imports of N95
Masks, PPE kits also India has a very little capacity of producing
ventilators around 6000-10000 a year.
But after this pandemic and watching the dependency India has
motivated a large number of manufactures in the country only and by
may only India will be producing 100000/Day PPE kits and same is
the ration with N95 Masks and when we talk about the medical
infrastructure India will be able to produce 30000 ventilators in
may as well as when we talk about the medicines India is trying to
build the self-reliant pharma industry which is not even dependent
for raw materials on any other country. So in this way we have the
USA as the same example it also trying the same. so this pandemic
has helped countries think upon the health
priorities.
