Exercise 2.16: Consider the folowing data
HistoData
36 39 36 35 36 20 19
46 40 42 34 41 36 42
40 38 33 37 22 33 28
38 38 34 37 17 25 38
IMPORTANT NOTE: SHOW ALL THE CALCULATIONS - (YOU WILL NOT GET ANY CREDIT IF YOU DO NOT SHOW ALL THE CALCULATIONS)
Solution : From the given data we have to find the following
a) Here we have to find the no.of classes needed to construct a histogram is as follows
Minimum = 17
Maximum value = 46
The number of class = 5
b)we have to find the Width of the class = 6
c)Nonoverlapping classes for a frequency distribution
Class Interval | |
LL | UL |
17 | 22 |
23 | 28 |
29 | 34 |
35 | 40 |
41 | 46 |
d) Here by tallying the number of values in each class and develop a frequency distribution
Class Interval | |||
LL | UL | Talli | f |
17 | 22 | IIII | 4 |
23 | 28 | II | 2 |
29 | 34 | IIII | 4 |
35 | 40 | IIIII,IIIII,IIII | 14 |
41 | 46 | IIII | 4 |
Total = | 28 |
e) We have to construct a histogram for the above data obtained is as follows
f) Finally we have to obtain a percent frequency distribution
CI | f | % freq |
17-22 | 4 | 14.28571 |
23-28 | 2 | 7.142857 |
29-34 | 4 | 14.28571 |
35-40 | 14 | 50 |
41-46 | 4 | 14.28571 |
Total = | 28 |
