The average is between 918.23 and 930.23. Find step by step the confidence intervals for the mean of this sample of n = 36 screws at 68% and 99%

Solutions

Expert Solution

To find the value just divide the given confidence interval into two halves i.e divide the given confidence interval with the value 2. With an half search the value in Standard Normal Area Tabulated values. For example Confidence Intrval is 68% then divide 0.68 with 2 then we will get 0.34. Now Search the 0.34 in the Tabulated values; we will get the 0.34 at (1.0, 0.00). Therefore with this we conclude that   = 1.

Similarly for the confidence interval of 99% we get = 1.96

step by step please. It is reported that a 95% confidence interval for the population average of a variable X normally distributed is [37.1;46.9]. Consider that the population standard deviation is 12.5 and that the interval was obtained considering a population of infinite size. If P (Z> 1.96) = 0.025, what is the sample size used in this study?

An important step in creating confidence intervals for proportions is to check whether the success/failure conditions have been met otherwise the interval created will not be valid (i.e. we should not have created that interval)! The following examples are estimating the proportion of the population who likes Brussels sprouts. Try to determine whether or not the assumptions have been met. In a sample of 150 people surveyed, 36 liked Brussels sprouts. conditions met? or not In a sample of 104...

Explain why confidence intervals are wider (i.e. the difference between the two numbers in the confidence interval is larger) with larger confidence levels (say, 95% rather than 90%) and then explain why it is that way with a smaller sample size.

. It is desired to design 95 confidence intervals for the ratio between standard deviation of two electroplating lines in a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) company. If independent samples of size n1=10 from line-1 has a standard deviation of S1=0.035 mil and sample size of n2=12 from line-2 has a standard deviation of s2=0.062 mil, estimate the confidence intervals for the ratio of standard deviation of line-1 to line-2 (s12/s22)
