"The Game of Chicken. Each driver wants the other to believe that they will not swerve, thereby forcing the other to chicken out and swerve first. Whoever swerves first is a chicken. But the dilemma for both drivers is just that: Will the other really swerve first? If neither do, both die" (Cottam).
Thinking of the game of chicken how would you play the game in every day life situations? How would you play the game if you were in charge of a Country handling International Relations? Would you play the same or different and why?
Answer:
Game of chicken in everyday life situations:
We all play the game of chicken in our daily life. Mostly, we have to win over the other person for our gains letting the other person loose. And in certain scenarios, the other person doesn’t even know that we are playing the game of chicken but they fight with the situation for a wish. One has to win and the other has to loose else both shall loose. We all try to win over the other for our gains and the winner can be only one.
Game of Chicken and International Relations:
An in-charge of a country handling international relationships should play this game while choosing among the suggestions, choices or the proposals of the other decision-makers when the in-charge has to make a final decision in the favor of the country and for the better good of the public at large.
One of both the opposite international parties has to swerve in the game theory or if one doesn’t swerve both the parties will clash. Therefore, while handling international relations the in-charge of a country has to take strong decisions being focused on achieving the prescribed goals and win at any cost.
Being an in-charge one should play the game in the traditional way itself because when two countries compete against each other only one can win. And the in-charge should make strategies in advance by eliminating any foreseeable risks to reach the victory.
