Robert Reich has written the book, in that he visions for the Capitalism that can benefit many people, rather it benefits few people as it happens today. There are many benefits of this vision. The first benefit is that it can bring sustainability to the capitalism and market can remain successful for longer period of time, without crises as it happened during 2008. The second benefit is the distribution of the income, resources and prosperity to the majority of the society. in present shape, all the benefits are accumulated in the hands of few and it will fail the capitalism. So, for its longevity, the benefits should be delivered to the more number of people. The third benefit, I think, is the rewriting of the rule of the market that can stop poor from becoming more poor and rich become more rich over a period of time.
Though, there are costs as well if
the vision by Robert Reich is applied. The first cost is
the lack of economic activities as firms do no invest if they don't
bigger share of the income being created. The second
cast will be the conflict between the class of wealthy people and
class of people who are aspiring for the benefits of capitalism
reaching out to them. It will create more rivals than friends.
Besides, economic uncertainties can also take place when capitalism
practices are to be restructured. So, there are some benefits as
well as some costs of the vision presented by Robert
Reich.
