Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the metric system and the household system. When is each system appropriate to use?

The advantages of Metric system is that it is widely known and used as it has just one basic unit for each type of thing we measure and standard prefixes that are same for everything that we can use converting from one unit to another. The disadvantage of metric system is that it is hard to calculate. The metric system uses decimals to express units of weight, volume and length. These units are used to measure temperature, speed, force.

The advantages of using household system is that it is widely used and widely available and most people already have household measure containers in their homes. The disadvantages of the household system is that it has numerous different units to measure the same things and a lot of different conversion factors that need to be learned.

Metric system is most appropriately used in all industrial work places, laboratories and scientific work places as it is the most accurate as well as easy to use and communicate results in the same measurement. Household system is mostly used at home. This system uses measurements for drops, teaspoons, tablespoons, ounce, cups, pints, gallons, pound as it is easily available no matter where we are and are easy to use as well.
