Question
You are conducting a research to find out the negative effects that heath insurance have in patients. You will be using a survey for your research
after reading the above abstract are you leading to a “qualitative” or “quantitative” research? Explain

In statistics, quantitative research is the empirical systematic
study of the situation in question, where the data is numeric in
nature. On the other hand, qualitative research is a branch in
statistics where we deal with non-numeric type of data. Here we are
concerned on conducting a research on medical health insurance to
find out it's negative effects on students.
So we will take sample of households from every state of the
country(We can also
take an SRS or systematic sample). Then, we collect data on each
member of the household(who has visited hospital at
least once as a patient) on qualitative matters like whether they
have medical health insurance, what kind of health insurance they
have, what lie under the purview of insurance coverage viz.
Medicine, different types of tests, clothing, fooding, lodging. We
should also ask them about their opinion on whether the patients
without such coverage are deprived of certain facilities. Also
whether they think the hospitals exploit them in the name of
facilities and care through health insurance coverage. We should
also look into the loopholes that the insurance companies may have
plotted for the patient to fall for. All these variables are
qualitative in nature and therefore calls for a qualitative
research.
All these qualitative variables will be counted and can be used for
testing the relevance or significance of corresponding negative
effects on patients and infer on the patients of respective state
or country.
We are concerned about the depth or context or non-coverages of medical insurance and not on the percentages or measures of health coverage. So, we can very well conclude that our research will be qualitative in nature.
