write a 3-page minimum paper (750 words) describing the organization that you work for, or one with which you are familiar, from the perspective of how it employs or fails to employ teams. How do you observations compare with the observations in the text about teams?
As the employees have good intentions , put significant efforts for the organizations ,still the members of the team fail. The failures are due to various reasons & is very important to understand & analyze for the failure reasons.
These failures affect the morale of the employees & the financial status of the organisation
These reasons can be divided into five categories:
Enviornmental influences : It may be noted that team members may be placed at distant locations ,which create difficulties in communication with each other & brief their team members of the latest situations which are being carried out by them , But today the problem of physical distance can be resolved by the use of technology,
The team is not provided with adequate resources to furnish their jobs, & at times one is not able to take independent decisions ,
Team efforts can be reconized , wheather a team member is able to do the assigned work or not as team work is a chain system , if one link is not able to perform then other members suffer for the cause.
A lack of recogination of good work done by the team or the member by the organization , thus the employees start feeling that their efforts are in vain.
GOALS: No member pr team leader is setting goals , this takes away the ownership from the team as well as reduces the commitment of the team members.
The basic concept & the goals are not clear as what are the targets
Goals are not effectively communicated , every member is working as per his desire No attention is paid to tothe team goals.
ROLES : Responsibilites to the team members are poorly defined , this leads to ambiguity & lack of comitment.clear leader is identified. Leadership is vital to any team. A good leader prepares outlines of the strategy & charts the path to reach the goal.
The members indulge in power plays for authority & control .This problem is of the attitude . Members refuse to reconize their interdependence & act as they are independent, this factors lead s to failure.
PROCESSES : Lack of processes to take decisions throwws in a crisis situation. if a decision is made by a single member may land in a difficult situation , as single person decesion may lead to poor commitment of the team.
Communications are the channel for the team work in case there is a wrong communication the job cannot be done ,which leads to time waste & the efforts put are in vain. which may bring great losses to organisation.
Meetings are unproductive with the unresolved issues . this may be due to the poor planning .RELATIONSHIPS : Some times the members are unwlling to be identified with the team mates .Ther is a conflict between the team members & the team leaders . Many times there are personality conflicts
Finally most of the issues can be resolved , what is required is planning, processes& the performances. TEAMS ARE VITAL FOR ANY ORGANIZATIONS & THEIR FAILURE LEADS TO THE FAILURE OF THE ORGANIZATION AS A WHOLE.
