1) What are the values of doing formal evaluation?
2) What do you see as the drawbacks of evaluation?
Question1:
Values of doing formal evaluation:
First of all,the formal evaluation process is the most important process that is mostly followed in every organization.
This helps the organizations in selecting the desired products that suits their business needs.
It helps the members of the organization and other developers in identifying the loop holes and other drawbacks in the product.
In the recent days, the frequency of the competitive evaluation has increased a lot. This allows the organizations in improving the performance of the products.
In many ways, we can see the correlation between the business profits and evaluation process.
Many small scale and large scale organizations carry out these evaluation processes on a regular basis and monitor the outcomes and manage them.
There are various benefits of the evaluation strategies to the organizations like faster identification of errors, analysis, planing, accurate reporting etc...
In a indirect manner, these benefits that are mentioned above has effects like reduced costs, increased revenue etc..
In some cases, during the evaluation process it helps us in identifying the requirements that are further required.
Mostly, these evaluation strategies are applied when choosing the tool that is required while developing a product. This helps the developers in choosing the correct tool needed to be used.
Question2:
Drawbacks of evaluation:
There are various kinds of drawbacks of evaluation as stated below.
Cost:
In many cases, these evaluations can be costly and expensive which increases the cost of product.
Time:
The time required by the evaluation process to be completed is more in many cases.Till the process is completed, the other mechanisms and phases may have to wait.
Resources:
The evaluation process itself requires various resources like manpower, technical requirements, computers etc..
The amount that needs to be spent on these requirements is more in case of improper or wrong selection of evaluation tool.
Speed:
As mentioned earlier, the speed at which the evaluation process is done is completely dependent on the size of the project and the tool that is used.
This may consume enough amount of time in the development of the product.
Accuracy:
One cannot completely depend on the results of a tool that guides us to choose the development tool to make a product. It may be possible that these results are incorrect due to various reasons.
In some cases, the accuracy is high and in some cases,it may be moderate.
These performances needs to be regularly monitored to achieve good outcomes.
Understandability:
The evaluation process may produce some results which may or mayn't be understood by the stakeholders.
These technical terms and the requirements that are needed may not be possessed by the client.
These are some of the major drawbacks of the evaluation processes.
