How does one determine if research and tests involving animals is immoral?
People have different feelings for animals. Some people view animals as companions and some view them as a means of advancing the modern medicine and putting them for research and tests of products for finding new drugs. Some people think that animals testing is wrong. One reason that individuals are against this happening is because animals do not have the ability to refuse tests and research being conducted on them. Animals cannot sign consent forms or agreements saying that they are okay with being tested on. These type of individual believe that animals have rights. Animals are still living beings and when a toxic product is tested on them, it can cause harm. Scientist, Thomas Dixon says that, " Human beings share about 99% of their genes with Chimpanzees and only slightly fewer with other monkeys". This means that any product that is not safe would affect a money pretty much the same way it would affect a human. Because the monkey is like the human, it is also closer in intelligence and sensitivity which makes the process that much more immoral. These animals would feel as much pain as human and it is immoral to let them for research and tests works.
In conclusion, animals for research and testing is very unfair, impractical and immoral as it violates the animal's right, causes pain and suffering to the experimental animals. Therefore, it should be stopped as soon as possible.
