what stands out for you as to how we got from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution.? What form of federalism do we have in each direction? Is our system of federalism effective? Why or why not. Be sure to cite your information sources for your academic support.
The articles of confederation did not meet the expectations because they didn't give Congress and the national government enough power in their hands. The new US in its full form just fought a war to end what seemed like a tyrannical rule of a strong government that over powered the local government and leaders often feared a powerful central office. There were key differences in the way the two documents codified law. The articles of Confederation established a unicameral legislature as opposed to the eventual bicameral system created by constitution. Constitutional document was a unique one for it's own time and shared these key differences from what the confederation had to offer. the effort put in to have a constitution in place and a federal system per se is so that the state and national government can share power equally. The Effect of the same has been a matter of debate by different stakeholders. Although the power is shared and is not in the hands of a few, it has its share of cons such as damaging the effectiveness of the national government. Citizens too often feel alienated in the process wherein the governments get busy in resolving their own conflicts and grievances.
