According to research, what are people's general thoughts on family in the United States? How do they view nontraditional family structures? How do you think these views might change in twenty years?
American family structure has undergone a huge transformation in the 20th century and industrialization in the 19th century played a major role in introducing nuclear family. When the traditional joint family system came to an end with industrialization, more new forms of families came into existence, especially by the end of the 20th century. Today, we have single parent family, grandparent family, LGBTQ family apart from the nuclear family. Since America follows individualistic and materialistic culture, there are many live-in relationships, where most children grow in families that do not have both their biological parents. This would mean that it would still change in the upcoming years because the society or the government would have to raise more children as they take care of the elderly today. Many people would have children without their own willingness because they would want only the pleasure without protection. Family would become meaningless in the American society in the future as biological parents would act as the providers of human resource to the society but it would be the society that would take care of the children, at least many in the future.
