Business continuity is the management of a sustainable process that identifies the critical functions of an organization and develops strategies to continue these functions without interruption or to minimize the effects of an outage or loss of service provided by these functions. It develops the capability and the plans to implement the strategies and lists the resources necessary to support these operations. Explain Why Business Impact Analysis should be carried out and outline the importance of Continuous Improvement in having a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) capability

Business Impact Analysis helps in assessing the different risks and the different factors affecting the project and the impact of putting a halt or making a change in a core business process or functionality. Business Impact Analysis helps the management to plan strategies which can help the business recover from such unpleasant situations.
Business continuity management system (BCMS) facilitates the business to run irrespective of any exceptional situation. BCMS has a set of procedures and rules which help the functionality of business even in the emergency situation. The BCMS must be researched upon and must have continuous improvement. This is so because the business atmosphere is quite volatile and keeps changing at random. Continuous improvement in BCMS will help business in meeting any kind of dreadful or unexpected situation. Continuous improvement in BCMS helps the business to be prepared to manage the influence of any external or internal factor. It also helps in enhancing the overall efficiency of business processes. Hence it is important that the management must ensure continuous improvement in BCMS of the organization.
