Solutions

Expert Solution

Water is very important natural resource without water life is not posssible. If there was no water there would be no life on earth. Apart from drinking it to survive, people have many other uses for water. These include:

  • cooking
  • washing their bodies
  • washing clothes
  • washing cooking and eating utensils; such as billies, saucepans, crockery and cutlery
  • keeping houses and communities clean
  • recreation; such as swimming pools
  • keeping plants alive in gardens and parks

Water is also essential for the healthy growth of farm crops and farm stock and is used in the manufacture of many products. Water should be clean water means it must be germs free and water which is clean and safe for drinking is called portable water.

Disease-causing germs and chemicals can find their way into water supplies. When this happens the water becomes polluted or contaminated and when people drink it or come in contact with it in other ways they can become very sick. Water that is not safe to drink is said to be non-potable. Throughout history there have been many occasions when hundreds of thousands of people have died because disease-causing germs have been spread through a community by a polluted water supply. One of the reasons this happens less frequently now is that people in many countries make sure drinking water supplies are potable. Water supplies are routinely checked for germs and chemicals which can pollute water. If the water is not safe to drink it is treated. All the action taken to make sure that drinking water is potable is called water treatment.

There are many ways in which we can collect water. The main sources are :-

SURFACE WATER

SPRINGS

EXCAVATED DAMS

RIVERS AND LAKES

ROCK CATCHMENT AREAS AND ROCKHOLES

BORES AND WELLS

RAINWATER TANKS

ARTESIAN BORES

These are the importance and sources of water which i discussed above. Now i will focus on that why countries have shortage of water, as we all know that human beings are developing infrastructure according to needs by going against the nature means by building dams on river to generate electricity and cutting forests to build buildings, societies and factories. This leads to shortage of water as we all know that deforstation is the main reason for climate change because it cause shortage of oxygen in environment which is not good for us tress maintain the balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide as they inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen which human being inhale and deforestation also cause less rain and it is the also the reason for earthquakes.

By building the factories like chemical factories which is the cause of water polluion as chemical waste pollute the rivers and lakes which polutte the fresh water and kills the water animals too which disturb the ecological balance of environment. Factories cause air pollution too which pollute the air and cause global warming and also the reason for ozone layer depletion which is the great harm for environments, especially for the human beings as it leads to many skin disease to humans by came into direct contact of ultraviolet rays which cause disease like skin cancer and allergies like rashes.

All these things against the nature cause a risk to humans so we to use the resources in a conservative way by stop the harming the nature because without nature we can't live on this planet, so these are some cause and effects of shortage of such an important resource.
