Expert Solution

The question that should every state retain control over their own elections or there should be a standardized process across all states, may have different answers by different people.

But according to me, every state should retain control over their own elections for the local levels posts. But in case of elections held for government officials at the federal and the state level including the election of Nation's head of state, The President, there should be a standardized process across all states.

This is because the local officials have to work for the local and even remote places and hence there must be different rules for election of local officials in different states. They need to be a perfect representative of their place and must possibly be among one of them than only they can work for the best of everyone in that place. So if they are free to decide for their own elections there will be best possible represation.

But for the election of the Federal and the state officials there must be a standardized process across all states, this will help in making the election system cheap and quick and if the officials will be selected with the standardized process of elections there will be no doubts on the officials and they can work with high coordination among themselves, which will be in favour of the whole country.
