10. My friend,Tina has already in a diet rich in dark and leafy vegetables, legumes and citrus fruits but still she was recommended to take folic acid supplement by her doctor. If she comes to me with  the two different supplements,

Nature Made, Folic Acid, 400 mcg per pill

Nature's Blend, Folic Acid, 1000 mcg per pill

I would suggest her to take the first supplement. Folic acid is a man-made folate (vitamin B9). For a pregnant woman regular supply of the vitamin through the foods is required, but we cannot get enough vitamins from the food we eat specially for pregnant woman. Because of this folic acid supplement is given. Folic acid is very important for the development of a healthy foetus. It can prevent the chances of neural tube defects. Some other functions are it helps tissues grow, helps in forming red blood cells, helps to produce DNA which carries genetic information, create new proteins with the help of Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C.

Therefore, it's been recommended to take the right amount of folic acid before and during pregnancy Taking higher doses of folic acid before getting pregnant and during the first trimester may lower the chances of miscarriage.

11. A non-essential nutrient d) is made in the body but must still also be obtained from the diet.

12. Phytochemicals are found in animal foods b) False.

13. b) qualified health claims on dietary supplements
