Examine why the mixed method has become the preferred
research approach of most
researchers .
Mixed method: The mixed method is a type of methodology used in the research. The mixed method focuses on the collection and analysis of the qualitative and quantitative date. Its nature of considering both (qualitative and quantitative) type of data; gives it the name of mixed method. The researcher uses the qualitative and quantitative method, procedures, theories and concepts in a single study to draw a conclusion.
Quantitative data refers to the close ended static information that is concluded by using the number and values. Qualitative data refers to the open ended non static set of information that is concluded by using the interviews, questionnaires, texts and documentation.
Reason for preferring mixed method approach:
The mixed method approach is preferred by the researcher due to the following reasons:
Compare the quantitative and qualitative date: The mixed method uses both types of data in its research process. It helps in providing the contradictions of both the collected data. With the understanding of the qualitative data and facts support of quantitative data makes it an effective approach.
Rich and comprehensive data: The mixed method collects the qualitative and quantitates data. It helps in the integration of a meaningful data for the purpose of the research. The interviews and questionnaires results can be integrated with the number to provide a better insight.
Researcher’s conclusion: The researcher integrates the qualitative and quantitative data to form an opinion on the research which could have fade away by using a single method.
Broad range of research: The mixed method can be used to answer a wide range of research question as it is not confined to a single method. This method can collect the wide range of data which is qualitative and quantitative in nature.
