The technology and the media have played increasingly
larger roles that may have affected our interpretation of physical
development and perception. Please share your thoughts regarding
how television shows portray physical characteristics across the
lifespan. Select a current television show that you are familiar
with and share your reflection about how that show portrays:
children, adolescents, young adults, adult or older adults. Also
explain how rapid changes in technology may have affected this
portrayal over the last thirty years. Give specific examples of
biological, psychological, or sociocultural factors that you see
demonstrated in this show.

Technology and media play a very vital role in affecting our interpretation about the physical and psychological development of human beings over their whole life span. Media is a powerful tool which can be used to demonstrate stories which include human beings as a part of the story. There are many movies and television shows which take help from the technology available to demonstrate certain disorders which can be physical or psychological disorders in a manner that seems close to reality as much as possible. If we take example of the TV series, The Big Bang Theory and the subseries, Young Sheldon, we can observe the character of Sheldon Cooper all the way from childhood to adolescence and then to adulthood. The story tries to portray a character so as to focus on the defining characteristics and demonstrating how a human being may deal with the changes that they encounter while they enter a new phase of development. It shows how the beliefs are formed in an individual and in what manner might it affect their behaviour. For example- the physical characteristics of the character are influenced by his psychological traits and social skill which is why he’s of a moderate height and weight and wears simple clothes which are related to his beliefs and interests.
